October 8: “Flora and Fauna: Creating a National Park in your Back Yard”
Jean Ponzi, Green Resources Manager at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s EarthWays Center, will talk about ways to make yards environmentally friendly and a welcoming place for pollinators. Presented in conjunction with Bethel’s Green Team.
October 15: “Reconciling in Christ Congregation: Bethel’s History and Future”
A panel of Bethel members will discuss Bethel’s decision to become a Reconciling in Christ congregation, a welcoming ministry to persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We will discuss the congregation’s activities, the current RIC statement, and what it means to the congregation’s members.
October 22: “Grace and Gratitude: The Convergence of Native American Spirituality and the Protestant Doctrine of Justification“
Dr. Clint McCann, Evangelical Professor of Biblical Interpretation, Eden Seminary, will draw on an essay by Kimmerer, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, and from biblical texts.
October 29: “Exploring Culture – The Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos”
Bethel member Christina Rios will lead us through a brief history and understanding of Día de los Muertos and share ways in which we might adopt some of the traditions of this time of remembrance.
